Although smaller than conventional high expansion foam generators, the new light weight version of the Mini Fomax offers similar expansion and foam output to its bigger brother.

It is suited to all normal high expansion applications and powered by a single water nozzle driving a bronze pelton wheel. Simply connect to a supply of synthetic foam compound, and a pressurised water supply.

The Mini Fomax is ideally suited for all total flood applications such as warehouses, ship holds, engine rooms, machinery spaces, electric cable ducting, chemical processing and refining plants and mines.

The Mini Fomax SI version is available with a built-in foam inducing system or a standard unit can be run in conjunction with a 200 l/min inductor, such as the IND 50.

The Mini Fomax SE version is a portable smoke extraction unit with a 7.5m length of smoke extraction ducting attached by quick release strap which is suitable for smoke extraction in hazardous areas that need an intrinsically safe operation.

Fomax 7 is powered by a water turbine. All that is required for operation is a supply of synthetic foam compound, such as Towalex MB or Plurex high expansion foams, and a pressurised water supply (4 bar minimum). This enables large volumes of high expansion foam to be produced – expanded 1000 times or more to achieve rapid extinguishing with minimal water damage.

With its damage protected recessed controls and solid rubber, rot-proof feet, the unit is ruggedly yet practically designed for ease of use and stowage. Fomax 7 is ideally suited for all total flood applications such as warehouses, ship holds, engine rooms, machinery
spaces, electric cable ducting, chemical processing and refining plants and mines. Also effective for specialist applications such as blanketing LNG spill fires, controlling vapour release from toxic or flammable liquid spills and the inerting of tanks.

The Fomax 7 SE version is a portable smoke extraction unit powered by the water turbine and is suitable for smoke extraction in hazardous areas that need an intrinsically safe operation. Skum also offers fixed high expansion units for permanent installation and also the HotFoam units where inside air is an acceptable alternative to outside air for the generation of high expansion foam.

Rugged and professional, a unit designed for fast, one-man operation – ideal for the protection of oil storage and loading terminals, paint and solvent stores, boiler rooms, ships’ engine rooms, helipads, oil rigs and similar high risk locations. If fitted with a Macron medium expansion (MX) branchpipe, the MF140 can be used to suppress vapours from flammable and toxic liquid spills.

Alternative Fittings

Marine version includes gunmetal inductors, stainless steel branchpipe and chassis.

Performance
The performance of the MF140 is governed by the foam making branchpipe. The figures in the chart to the right reflect Macron’s LX range of low expansion foam branchpipes.
